Qayum has concentrated his work on securing new members for the PSU President’s Circle, an annual giving club of neighborhood leaders who present important funding for a number of the most pressing wants of the University. “PSU’s story is a simple one to pitch to local business owners,” he said. “For years, employers have been going out of state and overseas for the talent they want right right here in the Portland area. I tell them that we'd like their investment in PSU to maintain the standard of training and create a sustainable employment base that meets the needs of our employers. PSU is growing by leaps and bounds – in fact, we’re bursting on the seams – however we need outside assist as a result of the state of Oregon only funds about sixteen % of our annual budget.” With that assist, Qayum stated he’s confident Portland State will become Oregon’s high university in each enrollment and quality.
